COVID-19 Serological Test

Self-test for the detection of anti-Nucleocapsid antibodies against SARS-CoV-2

  • WHAT IS THE
    COVID-19 SEROLOGICAL TEST FOR?

COVID-19 Serological Test is a rapid device which allows to verify the presence of IgG and IgM antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 in blood samples, produced after a past infection.

The test doesn’t detect the presence of antibodies after vaccination, as opposed to the COVID-19 Neutralising IgG Serological Test, specifically developed with this intended use.

  • ANTIBODIES AGAINST SARS-CoV-2

Serological tests are realized in order to detect the presence of antibodies in the blood, produced by the body after an infection, like the one of SARS-CoV-2. In other words, these devices can reveal the body's immune response to an infection caused by the virus and not the presence of the virus itself.

COVID-19 incubation period generally varies from 1 to 14 days. During the first days of infection, when the body’s immune response is still under construction, these antibodies can’t be detected yet. Recent studies have underlined that IgG and/or IgM antibodies appear in infected people within 19 days since the symptoms onset. This type of devices is not so conclusive for the diagnosis of an ongoing infection, as the absence of antibodies doesn’t exclude a possible early stage infection.

  • WHO DOES USE
    THE COVID-19 SEROLOGICAL TEST?

COVID-19 Serological Test is useful for everyone who wants to check a previous exposure to the virus or as aid in the diagnosis with molecular swabs, in cases where symptoms appear late.

  • HOW DOES
    THE COVID-19 SEROLOGICAL TEST WORK?

The test is based on an immunochromatographic reaction starting from a blood sample: if IgG and/or IgM anti-SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid antibodies are present in the sample, then a red line will appear in the test region in just 10 minutes.

  • WHAT DOES IT CONTAIN?
